Today I went to Birnam to visit ski maker and founder of Lonely Mountain Skis, Jamie Kunka. I am joining the LMS team as a brand ambassador and will be skiing a set of Sneachda skis for the rest of the season, including taking them on expedition to Greenland in April. The Sneachda is described as "a hard-charging all mountain ski with great power and stability through all conditions". It recently won the 2016/17 Gold Award at the ISPO in the Touring Ski category.
It was fascinating to see the production process and very impressive to see such a high quality end product being produced by one man in a small work shop in the Scottish Highlands! I have a particular interest in Scottish ski making as my Dad started his working life making skis for a small company called Veilhaber.
